Built Up Roofing
A traditional system, built-up roofs (BUR) are made of of several layers of felt adhered together with asphalt or bitumen. These felt layers are typically pre-saturated with bitumen and then bound in place during installation with more asphalt. The layers of this material are cross woven (or built up), giving it additional durability with every ply that is installed. With proper care and maintenance (and choosing good roofer to install the system), commercial built-up roofs can last for many years.
